Position Description
POSITION: The Department of Management and Marketing in the School of Business at the College of Charleston invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Marketing starting August 16, 2026. The department includes the four areas of marketing, management, entrepreneurship, and international business. The marketing area consists of eight tenure-track faculty and two instructors educating 664 undergraduate marketing majors and 199 minors in a School of Business with approximately 3200 students as of spring 2025.

We seek a student-oriented faculty member who is committed to innovative teaching, scholarly excellence, and engagement with the local business community. Candidates with teaching and research expertise in all areas of marketing will be considered. Teaching responsibilities will include our introductory marketing course as well as required or elective marketing courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The applicant may be expected to teach evening and online classes.

In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to regularly publish in quality journals, contribute to undergraduate programming, mentor students and supervise the marketing student professional association (AMA), as well as engage in service to the College, community, and profession, as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS and APPLICATIONS: A doctoral degree in marketing or a related field granted from an AACSB-accredited institution is required, but A.B.D. candidates near completion of their dissertation will be considered. Submit online (a) a letter of application, (b) a recent CV, © a statement of your teaching philosophy, (d) a statement of your current and projected research agenda, (e) unofficial graduate transcripts (official transcripts will be required for hiring), (f) one representative publication, and (g) complete contact information for reference providers who may subsequently be asked to serve as referees. DEPARTMENT: Our department offers majors in Business Administration, Marketing, and International Business, as well as minors/concentrations in Leadership for Sustainability, Entrepreneurship, Business, and Marketing.

It is an exciting time to teach in the School of Business at the College of Charleston. The School of Business is thriving, and professional and academic opportunities are becoming available through executive/doctoral education and the addition of programs to serve non-traditional students. The Marketing major and minor are growing, and the School of Business has an abundance of active extra-curricular and curricular engagement opportunities (CofC chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA); the Schottland Scholars program; Global Entrepreneurship Week). The department is also actively engaged in study abroad and continues to support a growing internship program.
