Position Description | The School of Engineering, Computing, and Mathematics was established by the Board of Trustees during the summer of 2024, and currently consists of three engineering programs: Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, and two existing departments: Department of Computer Science and Department of Mathematics. The new School is also the home for the College’s first Ph.D. program in Mathematics and Computing. The Inaugural Dean of Engineering, Computing, and Mathematics at the College of Charleston will play a pivotal role in shaping and leading the new School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics. This dynamic leader, working with the Provost and President, will be responsible for establishing the vision, strategic direction, and academic and research programs for the School, fostering a culture of inclusive excellence and innovation. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in engineering, a proven record of leadership, and a passion for advancing engineering, computing and mathematics education and research. Qualifications: •Academic Qualifications: An earned doctorate in an engineering or related field. •Experience: Meaningful academic and administrative experience, including a track record of leadership roles, program development, and research achievements. Industry experience preferred. •Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire a diverse team of faculty, staff, and students. •Strategic Vision: Ability to develop and implement a strategic vision for the School that aligns with the College’s goals. •Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to represent the School effectively. •Fundraising Experience: Demonstrated experience in fundraising, development, and building external partnerships are strongly preferred.
