Position Description | The Environmental and Sustainability Studies Program invites applicants for a Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Instructor position to begin in January 2025. While visiting positions at the College of Charleston are issued and renewed on an annual basis, it is our intent that this be a 3-year position, pending available funding and positive performance review. Candidates must have completed all requirements for a graduate degree in a social sciences discipline by January 6, 2025, with a Ph.D. preferred. We are most interested in attracting an interdisciplinary scholar with expertise in environmental economics, environmental policy, and/or environmental law and a strong commitment to equitable and inclusive teaching. Experience teaching interdisciplinary courses is preferred. The successful candidate will teach four course sections per semester, including multiple sections of a 200-level introductory course in Environmental and Sustainability Studies. Additional courses will be assigned based on the candidate’s expertise, with opportunities to offer graduate and upper-level courses in Environmental and Sustainability Studies as well as courses in our Honors College and First-Year Experience Program. Located in the heart of historic Charleston, South Carolina, the College of Charleston is a nationally recognized public liberal arts and sciences university.
