Position Description
The College of Charleston invites qualified applicants for a full-time Instructor position within the Department of Health and Human Performance. The successful candidate will join an active department that offers undergraduate degrees in Exercise Science, Public Health (both B.S. and B.A.), and Health Services Administration and Management. We currently have 21 full-time teacher-scholars that serve approximately 800 undergraduate majors. We are committed to preparing and equipping the next generation of health professionals and are seeking applicants who share our mission and want to engage with undergraduate students in and out of the classroom through dynamic teaching, professional advising, and mentoring.

The responsibilities of this Instructor position include 1) providing high-quality instruction in four course sections per semester within the Exercise Science and Public Health majors, 2) performing advising duties within the Exercise Science and Public Health majors, 3) actively participating in the development and advancement of curriculum and accreditation, 4) engaging in service activities within the program, department, school and college as appropriate, 5) working collaboratively within the program and department to help meet stated goals and objectives, and 6) committing to a liberal arts and sciences undergraduate education.

At minimum, applicants must possess a master’s degree in public health, exercise science or closely related discipline from an accredited institution before the August 16, 2024 start date. Applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to teach undergraduate students with a dedication to achieve teaching excellence. We are looking for individuals whose teaching and/or professional experiences are related to public health administration, administration and management in exercise science, and/or healthcare systems. Lastly, we prefer those with additional relevant professional certifications, a record of service and/or mentoring students within a higher education setting. Candidates with diverse and relevant education or work experiences are encouraged to apply.
