Description

Charleston County Fleet Operations is looking for a Fuel Supply Technician. The person in this position will assume the responsibility for dispensing of fuel in the County service areas, maintain these fuel areas records and cleaning up hazardous waste spills.


HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $19.34 per hour to $25.32 per hour


OPEN UNTIL FILLED – APPLICATION REVIEW BEGINS IMMEDIATELY

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary:

  • Takes inventory of petroleum fuel products at six fueling stations.
  • Collects manual gas tickets and balances actual fuel inventory with records.
  • Maintains County-wide fuel dispensing pumps, islands, and all peripheral equipment, including pumps, hoses, modules, and antennas.
  • Cleans up fuel spillage and other hazardous waste in accordance with Federal rules and regulations as needed.
  • Repairs and assists in the calibration of fuel pumps.
  • Maintains County vehicle use and travels to County-wide sites.
  • Paints islands pumps and dispensers as needed.
  • Documents identified problems, diagnoses basic mechanical problems and repairs or replaces defective hoses, nozzles, belts and filters.
  • Maintains records on maintenance activities.

Secondary:

  • Monitors the computerized fuel terminals and parts inventory.
  • Charges oil to user departments and performs monthly close out inventory.
  • Orders fuel dispensing pumps, supplies, and parts, and submits fuel orders.
  • Responds to questions, comments, and requests in a courteous, timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from High School or possession of a GED;
  • Must possess, a valid State driver’s license showing a clean DMV record.
  • Will be required to possess a Control Class A/B Operator Certification from South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services within first 90 days.

Preferred:

Experience in vehicle fuel dispensing repairs and maintenance Certifications from respected associations.
