Description

As a Charleston County Judicial Deputy Sheriff, a Limited Duty position, you will join a premier law enforcement agency with an outstanding team of law enforcement professionals striving to serve our community by helping to provide a safe environment for citizens to live, work and raise families, and enhance their quality of life by providing excellent law enforcement services. This position is responsible for the physical security of the designated areas of the Sheriff’s Office. Potential areas of assignment include, but are not limited to: the Law Enforcement Center, the Judicial Complex, General Sessions, Family and Probate Courts and Crisis Stabilization Unit.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $20.80 - $24.63

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $43,264 - $51,230 (Estimated Annual Salary)

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to: escorts, security patrols, report writing, answering calls for assistance, manning the screening stations and performing Main Control Room operations.

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS: A qualified applicant must (1) be a Citizen of the United States over 21 years of age; (2) possess a high school diploma (state issued) or GED; (3) be able to work rotating 12 hour shifts; (4) possess a current valid SC driver’s license; (5) have no criminal convictions that carry a sentence of a year or more. Applicants meeting these minimum criteria must submit to, and successfully complete, all phases of the hiring process to be considered for employment. The process includes, but is not limited to the following: the Nelson-Denny Vocabulary and Reading Examination: a two-phase background investigation, a credit check, a psychological examination/evaluation, a polygraph examination, an oral interview and a pre-employment physical examination.
