This position is responsible for coordinating all inmate programs and services at the Detention Center and performs directly related work as required. Primary function will be coordinating education programs for Detention Center residents.
HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $30.64 - $33.89

Duties include, but are not limited to: maintaining records of resident attendance and participation; overseeing and coordinating outside program instructors, ensuring they are delivering the approved curriculum; reviewing resident files to determine eligibility for certain programs, referring residents to programs when appropriate; establishing rules and monitoring residents’ behavior to maintain order; overseeing and monitoring grant requests and funds for educational programs; addressing all complaints and concerns of outside personnel and residents; planning, assigning, directing, training and coordinating the work of subordinate staff; participating in all aspects of personnel administration with assigned employees, including providing leadership, hiring, termination, grievance procedures, and coordinating employee training; and adhering to American Corrections Association and SC American Jail Association standards to retain accreditation. A person in this position may be required to report to work during hazardous weather and emergency conditions.
Minimum Qualifications

Position requires: U.S. citizenship, a Bachelor’s Degree (from an accredited school) in education, human services, psychology, criminal justice, or a related field with a minimum of five (5) years or more of experience in the corrections field, with at least one year of supervisory experience OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work. Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a South Carolina one upon acceptance of the position. Candidates must be able to demonstrate proficiency in PC applications using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and education management systems. Position requires NCIC certification (40-hour) or the ability to gain certification within six (6) months of assignment. Must successfully complete the NCIC’s Inmate Behavior Management course within one year of employment.
