Description

This is a professional planning position, under the supervision of the Zoning and Planning Director and Deputy Planning Director, responsible for specific technical job duties within the Zoning and Planning Department of Charleston County. Applicant must have extensive experience in the administration of Energov permitting and related software (Bluebeam, Crystal Reports, etc.), as well as ArcPro software. The applicant must also be self-motivated, possess an understanding of land use planning and zoning, land development processes, and exhibit excellent interpersonal relation skills with the ability to convey verbal, written, and graphic communications in a professional manner.


HIRING SALARY RANGE: $71,926 to $78,624 (Salary dependent upon applicant’s qualifications)

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and maintaining spatial data to create maps and perform geospatial studies utilizing GIS computer technology including, but not limited to, producing standard and custom maps, as requested;
  • Providing technical administrative oversight for the Department’s permitting software program (Energov) and related software programs (Bluebeam, Crystal Reports, Host Compliance, etc.);
  • Have the ability to create custom reports and maps using designated software, as needed;
  • Providing technical support with any other software programs the department utilizes;
  • Assisting the department and other County staff, as needed; and
  • Participating in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) when activated.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture, Engineering, Geography, Information Technology, or a related profession supplemented by at least seven years or more of related experience. Preference will be given to those applicants that are professionally licensed or certified (PLA, PE, AICP, etc.). Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and a valid South Carolina driver’s license are also required.
