The Sheriff’s Office is recruiting applicants for a paid summer internship. The internship will last 10 weeks and is slated to start June 2, 2023 and end August 11, 2023.

Selected students will shadow an employee for 2 weeks in selected areas. Tentative areas are Bomb, SWAT, Forensics, Victim/Witness Advocate, Community Engagement, Patrol, General Counsel, the courts, and the Detention Center. This is an opportunity for students who may be interested in pursuing careers in criminal justice, law enforcement, legal, or social work fields.

HOURLY PAY RATE: $16.00

APPLICATION DEADLINE: APRIL 21, 2023.

A qualified applicant must (1) be a U. S. citizen, (2) possess a high school diploma or GED (3) be a college student or scheduled to start college this fall (4) be able to interact with all individuals in a professional and courteous manner at all times (5) not have any felony convictions (6) be able to pass a background investigation including but not limited driving, employment, education histories and reference check. College graduates are not eligible for this internship.

NOTE: Must submit completed Charleston County Application to be considered for any Sheriff’s Department vacant positions.
