Job Summary

We are seeking a Refrigeration Equipment Technician for our Microbial Solutions site located in Charleston, SC.

Troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining our key HVAC assets including our critical freeze dryers. As our site Refrigeration Equipment Technician, you will oversee all refrigeration equipment including the mechanical operation, controls, electrical and mechanical installation, equipment optimization, effective/efficient equipment operation, electrical/electronic systems, and preventive maintenance.

Job Description

The following are the job duties & responsibilities related to the Refrigeration Equipment Technician:

  • Perform Regular inspection of manufacturing refrigeration systems and equipment including checklists, and functional checks
  • Install, or manage the installation of manufacturing refrigeration systems
  • Perform and/or assist in Installation qualification, and process performance qualification
  • Perform and/or manage the preventative maintenance of manufacturing refrigeration systems
  • Work with production engineering to plan for obsolesce of equipment
  • Target 0 unplanned down time
  • Assist production engineering or perform operations to recover material in the event of unplanned down time, or equipment issue
  • Perform and/or assist in equipment calibration, or manage calibration
  • Assist Production Engineering team members by cross training, and providing technical guidance on refrigeration equipment
  • Repair HVAC/R equipment, air handling systems, sophisticated refrigeration equipment, particularly lyophilizer, and/or manage repair contracts
  • Modify to HVAC/R equipment, air handling systems, sophisticated refrigeration equipment, particularly lyophilizer, and/or manage repair contracts
  • Use maintenance tools, precision instruments and testing equipment safely and accurately
  • Basic understanding of single and three phase power troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Ability to solder, repair and rework refrigeration equipment
  • Work safely and independently and/or safely work with team members to complete required tasks
  • Work on equipment while in operation, to maintain in process materials
  • Work on refrigeration controls
  • Assist in maintaining an inventory of repair parts
  • Perform all other duties assigned

Job Qualifications

The following are the minimum qualifications related to the Refrigeration Equipment Technician:

• Education: Two (2) years technical schooling or associates degree and three to five (3-5) years of experience as a technician or a mechanic involved with HVAC/R equipment • Completion of vocational courses in areas such as welding, mechanics, control systems, electrical, refrigeration, HVAC/R, or Freeze drying is desirable • Experience: 3-5 Years• An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.• Three years of experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment such as Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical or Medical Devices desired• Two (2) years of experience in repair, installation, maintenance and modifications to HVAC/R equipment, air handling systems, sophisticated refrigeration equipment• Lyophilizer experience desired, training can be provided• Certification/Licensure: SC Refrigeration License and/or ability to pass exam• Other: Effective communication and interpersonal skills required. Demonstrated computer skills.

The pay range for this position is $30.00-$40.00 per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
