Job Description
This Development Engineer is responsible for design, validation, and development support to the plant for gasoline fuel injection system components. You will be supporting the engineering development team for gasoline products in Farmington Hills.
Development tasks, including but not limited to:
- Investigate functional and design issues on components
- Support Local Production with Risk Assessments and Problem Solving.
- Support manufacturing to identify and reduce defects, deviations from process and test specifications (e.g. welding, pressing, function).
- Define and implement documentation for new releases of customer projects.
- Work closely with internal and end customers to define functional requirements and create the necessary documentation to communicate requirements to the manufacturing location.
- Define component validation bench testing (durability, salt spray, etc.)
- Use of engineering tools (Shainin, DFSS, DRBFM, similar / equivalent).
- Perform bench tests of components
- Complete tear down analyses of returned parts from customer as well as design validation tests, to determine root causes of functional deviations
- Create engineering reports upon completion of testing.
- Interact with internal Bosch cross-functional team members across NA Region (manufacturing, quality assurance, project management, purchasing, sales, and applications) as well as OEM customers.
- Collaborate with Engineering at other Bosch worldwide locations.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive Engineering
- Demonstrate technical investigation & problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate statistical analysis skills.
- Strong skills in communication, technical writing, presentations, and collaborative & team-oriented behavior.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
Preferred:
- Fuel Injection products background.
- HDEV5, HDEV6, HDP5 or EV14 background.
- Unigraphics NX, or other 3D CAD software experience.
- Experience in design, GD&T, and tolerance calculations.
