Job Description
Data Engineer
*MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD OF DATA ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY*
Position Description:
- Leads and implements data engineering projects, supports/maintains data pipelines, and provides data estate expertise and best practices across the company.
- Assemble and analyze large, complex sets of data.
- Design and build sustainable and optimal database models.
- Program and build the infrastructure required for extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using Python, SQL, message brokers and/or MS Azure big data technologies.
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements increasing scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes.
- Build required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources
- Build analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics including operational efficiency and customer acquisition.
- Work with stakeholders including data, design, product, and leadership teams and assist them with data-related technical issues.
- Assist with setting standards, ensuring proper documentation and environment controls.
- Contribute to testing, QA, and documentation of data pipelines and systems.
- Support exploratory data analysis, statistical analysis, predictive analytics, and machine learning models.
- Ensure systems meet industry standard practices and business, security, privacy, and data retention requirements.
Qualifications
- BS in computer science/data engineering
- 3+ years experience in manufacturing
- Coding and scripting experience to move and manipulate data using tools
- Expert level knowledge of SQL, database administration and other data platforms and data related programming elements
- Ability to manipulate, process and extract value from large disconnected datasets.
- Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable ‘big data’ data stores.
- Experience with cloud environment Azure and Databricks.
- Experience with streaming tools: InfluxDB, Grafana, etc.
- Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
- Experience with PySpark or Scala, and Python.
- Experience with relational SQL databases: Oracle, etc.
- Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures and data sets.
- Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Knowledge of database design and architecting data models; ability to understand, discuss and document complex data models.
- Strong facilitation skills for gathering and understanding requirements from business groups.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships both internally and externally.
- Management and guidance for best practice data backup.
- Able to manage and complete multiple concurrent projects with tight deadlines.
- Display expertise with tools needed to debug and diagnose issues.
