COLLEGE STUDENT INTERNSHIP- Human Resources Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY

Internship positions are available from May through August, depending on applicant availability

To provide efficient and effective support services to various departments within Berkeley Electric Cooperative, especially the Human Resources and executive departments.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in updating employee records along with clerical duties include but not limited to scanning, working with spreadsheets, and entering information into NISC
  • Contribute to the coordination of company events and gain exposure to different facets of HR management.
  • Maintain the accuracy of employee files. Audits of various collections of files.
  • Participates and assists in career days and company social and networking events
  • Assists with coordinating new hire orientations.
  • Learn about the company's HR policies, employee benefits, and other HR-related information.
  • All duties as assigned within the parameters of all applicable federal, state, and local labor and safety laws and/or regulations.
  • All positions are required to participate in weekly group meetings with other interns. May involve special assignments and field trips.

EDUCATION

  • Must be a high school senior or enrolled in a university or college program, preferred course of study would be HR or related field.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must have good general office and computer skills, be detail-oriented, reliable, efficient, conscientious, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must have organizational skills.
  • High level of confidentiality
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong ability to multitask.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and in a friendly and personable manner with employees and the public.
  • Promptness is extremely important. Must be a team player.

WORKING CONDITIONS

General office setting. Mostly sitting at desk. Some lifting, bending, and stooping.
