Job Summary and Essential Functions

This position typically provides delivery and retrieval of equipment throughout Berkeley County; and deals courteously and effectively with fellow employees and citizens.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assisting with moving election equipment in preparation of each election in limited space.
  • Must be able to read spreadsheets and delivery schedule to make certain the correct number and type of equipment are being delivered to the correct polling locations and retrieved as well.
  • Must help during delivery and retrieval of all election equipment for election day and for early voting.
  • Will assist on election night with return of election materials.
  • Assists the public by providing customer service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements to Perform Work

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred;
  • Six (6) months general work experience;
  • Must have and maintain a valid South Carolina driver's license with safe driving record.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Departmental testing may be administered during interview;
  • A criminal background check will be completed on selected applicant if a current one (less than 3 years old) is not on file.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of personal computers, including Word and Excel.
  • Skill in the use of general office equipment.

Physical Demands

This position requires the employee to sit and use hands to handle, feel, finger, grasp or operate objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; use mental acuity and repetitive motion; and walk, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to sixty (60) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Conditions

The work is regularly performed in a relatively safe, secure and stable work environment. Hours will not exceed twenty-nine (29) hours per week. Work hours will typically be Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9am and 5pm, except during election days. Schedules are flexible.
