Job Summary and Essential Functions

This position typically provides assistance in the courtrooms by preparing courtrooms for hearings; ensures that all supplies and equipment are in order; assists in logging and maintaining case materials; and deals courteously and effectively with fellow employees and citizens.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:- Prepares courtrooms for daily activities.
- Assists judge with files.
- Closes courtrooms at the end of workday.
- Reviews daily dockets for cases.
- Calls cases for trial.
- Orders and picks food and supplies for jurors as needed.
- Returns files to COC office.
- Secures courtrooms at end of workday.
- Assists other bailiffs as needed.
- Delivers court papers to various departments.
- Checks and maintains COC vehicles for daily use.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements to Perform Work

- High School diploma or equivalent;
- Six (6) months of general work experience;
- Knowledge of law enforcement and/or courts preferred;
- Departmental testing may be administered during interview;
- A criminal background check will be completed on selected applicant if a current one (less than 3 years old) is not on file.
- Knowledge of a courtroom and legal setting.
- Knowledge of personal computers.
- Skill in the use of general office equipment.
Physical Demands

This position requires the employee to reach, pull and push with hands and arms; stand; use hands to handle, feel, finger, grasp or operate objects, tools or controls; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use mental acuity and repetitive motion; and walk, talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Conditions
The work is regularly performed in a relatively safe, secure and stable work environment. The number of hours worked will vary depending on the assignment. Hours will not exceed twenty-nine (29) hours per week. The scheduled hours for this position will be based upon court proceedings, with the ability to work flexible hours when necessary. Scheduled hours/days, job location, duties and any other information contained herein is subject to change. May be required to work extra hours and to perform extra or different duties during emergency situations.
