Job Summary
The primary focus of this position will be to design, build, and deploy Generative AI (GenAI) applications that leverage large language models (LLMs) and other AI technologies to solve business problems and enhance client workflows. The AI Engineer is responsible for prompt engineering, model fine-tuning, integration with client data, and deploying production-ready AI solutions. This includes building scalable APIs, designing user-facing AI features, and ensuring reliability, performance, and ethical use of GenAI models.
*Bear Cognition runs a hybrid schedule and would require this hire to live in or relocate to the Charleston, SC area.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Responsible for products that are accurate, efficient, and well documented.
- Designing and implementing end-to-end workflows, from experimentation to deployment in production environments.
- Developing and deploying GenAI applications (e.g., chatbots, copilots, document summarization, knowledge assistants, etc.) tailored to client needs.
- Work hands on across the stack, from architecture and data ingestion to model development and UX integration.
- Works collaboratively with peers to develop quality processes, frameworks and products per agreed timelines.
- Identify business obstacles (through analysis) and produce actionable solutions.
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to work with management at every level
- Provides detailed analysis of customer data that can easily be translated into visual representations.
- Acts as the first line of support for data questions and issues.
- Identify new research topics that have relevancy and value add to our projects.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of data science experience
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or 3 additional years of relevant work experience
- Strong fluency in Python
- Strong Experience with developing and deploying GenAI applications using Python or other coding language, while leveraging AI tools and frameworks such as LangGraph, Pinecone, Weaviate, and AWS Bedrock.
- Experience with GenAI applications, including RAG, Text2SQL , chatbots, and agentic workflows
- Strong organizational skills, able to deliver within fixed deadlines
- Demonstrates a collaborative mindset and a commitment to continuous learning
- Strong analytical skills, user interface design skills, work ethic, critical thinking, problem solving ability, effective communication skills, and overall positive attitude
Preferred
- Experience with developing and deploying GenAI solutions for clients
- Experience with Snowflake
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) services such as Bedrock
- Experience with Flask, FastAPI and web application frameworks
