About the Milling Division: The Milling Division plays a critical role in our operations by preparing roadways for resurfacing. Our cold planing crews cut and remove existing asphalt pavement to ensure proper placement of new asphalt across the Tri-County area. Banks Construction owns a diverse fleet of milling machines, ranging from 2 feet to over 8 feet in width, allowing us to handle jobs of any size efficiently and effectively—there is no job too big or too small.

What is a Milling Foreman? The Milling Foreman is responsible for leading and managing cold planing crews to ensure projects are properly planned, staffed, and equipped. This role also involves overseeing the meticulous maintenance of our milling fleet to guarantee optimal performance.

What you will get to do:

  • Interpret construction drawings and specifications to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Utilize expertise in milling depths, proper milling practices, and grade control, including TopCon Smooth Ride technology.
  • Differentiate between mainline and low square yardage milling applications, applying knowledge of restrictions, required thickness rates, and project-specific needs to ensure accuracy.
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor work progress, ensure safety compliance, and verify adherence to specifications.
  • Train crew members in construction methods, equipment operation, safety procedures, and company policies.
  • Measure, mark, and locate site placements for structures or equipment using precise measuring tools.
  • Collaborate with managerial and technical personnel, other departments, and contractors to resolve issues and coordinate project activities.
  • Direct crew members to execute projects safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Work closely with the Project Superintendent to meet client expectations and project goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of personnel, production, and operational data through required documentation and reports.
  • Provide input on personnel decisions, including promotions, transfers, and hiring recommendations.
Requirements

Who You Are:

  • You have 5 years of experience.
  • A strong leader with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented and committed to quality work.
  • Experienced in TopCon Smooth Ride and other machine control systems.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining focus and efficiency.
  • A self-starter with a proactive approach to project challenges.
  • Must have mechanical inclination to maintain equipment as needed.
  • Must be flexible with hours—available to work day and nights.
  • You have previous experience managing milling crews and leading successful projects.
