As an Accounting Specialist, you will engage in moderately complex responsibilities within Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, potentially extending to other areas within the Finance Department. In this role, you will interpret and analyze reports and documents containing pertinent accounting and business data, contributing to the preparation of various reconciliations in support of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) entries and records. A key focus of this position involves maintaining a keen eye on data accuracy, proactively investigating issues, and resolving discrepancies with a reasonable level of supervision. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in continuous procedure and documentation enhancements. The ability to work with a sense of urgency and adhere to deadlines is crucial.

Pay range: $51,131 - $70,622
You Will:
- Verify the precision of system-generated monthly and bi-monthly invoices for cost-plus contracts (as well as other contract types) in accordance with customer and contract specifications.
- Thoroughly understand and adhere to contract invoicing requirements, ensuring strict compliance.
- Utilize advanced Excel skills to assess the accuracy of invoice data using templates and formulas; adjust templates and tracking mechanisms as needed.
- Play a key role in contract close-out activities, calculating final invoices, and meticulously reviewing contract details for compliance assurance.
- Support government audits by meticulously compiling and organizing documentation and data as directed.
- Enhance collection efforts by resolving payment discrepancies and diligently following up on overdue invoices.
- Process accounts payable transactions by meticulously verifying information, collecting necessary support, obtaining payment authorization, assigning appropriate job coding, and accurately entering data into our ERP system.
- Contribute to expense report reviews, ensuring accuracy, adequate support, and proper job coding.
- Assist in reconciling general ledger suspense account activity, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Uphold financial security through strict adherence to internal accounting controls, security requirements, and protocols.
- Maintain thorough and accurate historical digital records, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
- Collaborate with the team by fulfilling assigned tasks promptly and efficiently.
- Actively contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of accounts receivable and payable systems, methods, procedures, and controls.
You Have:
- Previous government contracting experience, with a specific emphasis on cost-plus contracts (an invaluable asset!).
- Demonstrated proficiency in fundamental accounting principles, reflecting both a high level of understanding and practical experience.
- Exceptional skills in time management, communication, and problem-solving, essential for navigating the complexities of the role.
- Adept at multitasking and skillful prioritization, ensuring timely completion of responsibilities in both daily and weekly contexts.
- Honed mathematical and research skills, contributing to accurate and insightful financial analysis.
- Proven ability to rapidly learn and efficiently operate in a computerized/digital environment, including mastery of our ERP system and Excel.
- Possess the innate ability to analyze data accurately and efficiently, finding genuine enjoyment in the process.
- Take pride in the work you create or process, consistently ensuring accuracy and completion of all steps before considering a task done.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting, a related field, OR 5 or more years in a position involving the processing of accounting information of mid-level complexity.
